I Squared Capital (“I Squared”), a leading independent global infrastructure investment manager, today announced the appointment of Radu Gruescu as Managing Director in its Energy Transition team. Based in London, Radu will focus on originating, executing, and managing energy transition investments across Europe.

Radu brings more than two decades of experience investing in European energy and infrastructure. He joins I Squared from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, where he led investments across onshore wind, solar PV, battery storage, and transmission in European markets.

His appointment comes as the energy transition enters a new phase. We view that increasing renewable penetration is driving investment needs across the wider power system, while growing electricity demand from industrial activity, digitalization, and electrification is creating further requirements for generation, grid capacity, and flexibility. Together, we believe that these dynamics are creating opportunities across the energy transition value chain, particularly in the infrastructure required to connect, balance, and support an increasingly electrified energy system.
