Absolute Energy Wins Two Infra Global ESG Awards
Absolute Energy recognized for advancing renewable energy in Italy, combining project development with land restoration and local community engagement.
I Squared Capital portfolio company Absolute Energy has won ESG Energy Developer of the Year, Europe, and ESG Environment Award, Europe, at the Infra Global ESG Awards 2026. Previously known as the IJGlobal ESG Awards, the program recognizes environmental, social, and governance achievements across the infrastructure and energy sectors, with submissions assessed by an international panel of industry professionals.
Absolute Energy develops renewable generation and energy storage projects in Italy. Its approach incorporates environmental considerations throughout project development and operations, including biodiversity assessments and a focus on reusing previously developed or degraded land. The company also engages local communities early in the planning process to understand their needs and help shape projects.
Its Luzzi solar plant in the province of Cosenza provides a practical example. Built on a former quarry, the approximately 10-megawatt facility has brought land previously used for extraction back into productive use, generating renewable electricity. According to Absolute Energy’s 2025 Sustainability Report announcement, 98% of excavated soil was reused on site during construction, and local workers represented 38% of the workforce involved in civil and mechanical activities.
The project also incorporates biodiversity protection and ecological monitoring. Through A Scuola di Biodiversità, an environmental education program for nearby schools, Absolute Energy is extending its engagement beyond the plant itself. The company reports that it is applying the same approach to three additional projects in its portfolio.
The awards mark the second consecutive year of recognition for I Squared portfolio companies at the event. In 2025, Cube Green Energy received ESG Developer of the Year and the ESG Environment Award.
Congratulations to the Absolute Energy team on this achievement and its continued work to support Italy’s energy transition.

DISCLOSURES
Awards were announced on October 8th, 2026. The Infra Global ESG Awards (formerly known as the IJGlobal ESG Awards) are designed to give organisations within the international infrastructure and energy community the opportunity to demonstrate how they have turned the dial on the Environmental, Social and Governance front from 1 July 2025 – 30 June 2026. The judging process includes a resilient, transparent, ethical 2-step judging procedure, with all judges adhering to a code of conduct to maintain confidentiality. Entries are pre-scored out of 10 by judges who thoroughly review the entry and all supporting materials against the three pillars of Infra Global ESG Awards; innovation, impact and success. The highest-scoring entries determine the shortlist which is discussed in detail when the judges meet in person where together they reach a consensus on the overall winner. Judges who have an interest in a transaction, or who work for or have a particularly close working relationship with companies that are being judged are asked to disclose this and will be recused from scoring and discussing these entries.
