Bloomberg: Sadek Wahba on AI and the Infrastructure Supercycle
As infrastructure demand accelerates, Sadek Wahba explores the opportunities ahead and the discipline needed to navigate the AI buildout.
I Squared Capital Chairman and Managing Partner Sadek Wahba joined Bloomberg’s The Pulse to discuss the infrastructure supercycle, the financing of AI infrastructure, and the conditions needed to attract private investment.
As investment accelerates across data centers and electricity grids, Wahba highlighted the expanding opportunity set alongside the need for careful assessment of individual investments. For AI infrastructure, that means examining tenant quality, underlying contracts and guarantees, and the durability of demand. Evolving technology and the economics of AI raise further questions about how much capacity will be needed and which business models will prove sustainable.
The discussion also explored the importance of clear, consistent regulation. Pointing to the UK’s substantial infrastructure investment needs, Wahba emphasized that attracting private capital depends on a predictable framework that gives investors confidence to commit over the long term.
Turning to Latin America, he highlighted opportunities in markets including Mexico and Brazil, where underinvestment and fundamental demand create a need for new infrastructure.
